About the project

A website for the 2024 Open Russian Accordion and Bayan Championship, a competition held in Tyumen from May 11 to 16. The site tells visitors about the championship, collects participant applications, offers the competition rules and a tourist guide to the city for download, and showcases materials from the previous year.

The challenge

The championship's audience is very diverse: pupils of children's music and art schools, college and university students, and professional performers from Russia and abroad. We needed a website that looks worthy of a professional competition while quickly leading visitors to the key action — submitting an application. The "Apply" button appears in the header, on the first screen and in the closing block of the page.

First screen

The championship's name is set in a handwritten typeface that immediately creates a festive mood, accompanied by a large photo of a hand-finished instrument. Below the heading are the dates, the city and a short call to apply in time. The header holds a contact email, links to VKontakte, Telegram and YouTube, and a language switcher, since participants also come from abroad. The brand colour is a deep red, repeated in the buttons and accent blocks.

About the championship

The "About the championship" block explains who can take part and what motivates them: a prize fund, a ticket to the international "World Cup" competition, a place on the Russian national bayan and accordion team, and concerts and master classes for team members. The photos are divided by a diagonal, a technique that adds dynamism to an otherwise calm informational section. Below the text are two large buttons: download the rules and the tourist guide.

Championship 2023

To help new participants know what to expect, the site has a section about the previous championship: a video with a play button and a photo report in a horizontal carousel with arrows.

Applications and partners

The page ends with a red banner, "We look forward to your applications — it's time to make musical history", with one more application button. Below it is the "Supported by" block with the logos of the organizations backing the championship.

Result

The website brings all the championship information together on a single page: dates and venue, participation terms, downloadable documents, last year's materials and partners. Participants can get to know the competition and apply from anywhere on the page, while the concert-poster styling underlines the status of the event.
