Objective

Create a website design for an online gallery of contemporary art that will become a digital space for showcasing artists’ works, holding online exhibitions and interacting with the audience. The main objective of the project is to emphasize the value of art without distracting the user from the content, while ensuring convenient navigation and a modern user experience.

The website had to work equally well for viewers, curators and artists, providing a flexible and scalable foundation for the platform’s development.

Project features

ArtFlow is a platform where visual content plays a key role. Therefore, the design was built around the idea of a “clean canvas”, where the interface does not compete with art but carefully supports it.

Work stages

1. Analytics

We studied the market of online galleries and digital art platforms, and analyzed user scenarios and best practices in presenting visual content. We defined the requirements for the website structure, navigation logic and interface priorities.

2. Moodboard and concept

We gathered visual references from the world of contemporary art, digital museums and exhibition spaces. We formed the concept of a “digital gallery”, where the interface serves as a neutral background and enhances the perception of artworks.

3. Prototyping

We developed prototypes of key pages: the home page, the exhibition page, the artist card and the artwork viewer. We worked out navigation between collections and scenarios of user interaction with content.

4. Visual design

We selected a restrained color palette and accent typography and built a strict visual hierarchy. We created a design that lets art “breathe” and does not overload the user with unnecessary elements.

5. Handoff to development

We prepared design mockups, UI components and guidelines for implementing the project. We ensured correct handoff of all interface states and interaction scenarios for further development.
