About the project
Daim Food is a mobile app for ordering food from restaurants with delivery. We designed the key screens of the user journey: searching for dishes and restaurants, the cart and order tracking on a map.
The challenge
In delivery apps, users usually already know what they want: a burger, a pizza, a specific dish. That's why we made search the main scenario rather than browsing a catalog. We needed to keep the number of steps from query to checkout as small as possible, and to make sure that after payment people always know where their food is right now.
Search across restaurants
Search from the home screen shows results grouped by venue. Below the search bar there are refinement suggestions as chips, such as "chicken", "double", "classic", so users don't have to type the whole query. Further down are filters by cuisine type, order amount and rating. Each restaurant shows its rating with the number of reviews and an "Open" status, and below it is a horizontal row of dishes with prices. A dish can be added straight from the results: the "+" button turns into a quantity counter, and a floating cart button appears at the bottom.
Inside a specific restaurant, search works differently: the results become a list of dishes with a photo, name, price and counter. When the quantity drops to one, the "minus" button changes to a trash icon for removal — so an item can be removed without a separate confirmation.
Cart
The cart reuses the familiar dish cards, so the quantity can be changed the same way as when choosing. Below the list is an "Open menu" button to go back and add something else. The total and the "Proceed to order" button are pinned above the bottom navigation and stay visible while scrolling.
Order tracking
After checkout, the user lands on the "Track my order" screen. Most of the screen is taken up by a map showing the courier's route from the restaurant to the delivery point, with a hint showing the remaining time. At the bottom is the courier card with a name and a call button, along with the order number, estimated time and delivery address. The "Details" button opens full information about the order.
The result
The Daim Food interface is built around a short path: find a dish, add it in one tap, check the cart and follow the courier on the map. Light cards, large food photos and a single orange accent color for the main actions help users stay oriented among lots of items and always see the next step.
