Khranitel — an app for believers

About the project

Khranitel ("Guardian") is a mobile app for believers where you can keep a personal list of prayers for your loved ones and share testimonies with other users. We designed the app's interface: sign-up, the "Protection" section with the names of loved ones, and the "Living Testimony" feed.

The challenge

The app is meant for a broad audience, including people who are not used to complex interfaces. So we had to make every action obvious: large buttons with clear labels, as few screens as possible and no technical jargon. The second challenge was visual: the app had to feel calm and fit its subject rather than look like yet another service built from standard cards.

Hence the style: a light background with guardian angel artwork, warm brown and gold accents, and icons in the bottom menu — a cross for the home screen, a winged shield for "Protection" and a book for "Testimony".

Sign-up

The login screen opens not with a logo but with quotes from Scripture — "…God Almighty…" (Genesis 17:1) and "…God is everywhere…" (Jeremiah 23:24). The form itself has two fields: email or phone and password, plus consent to the terms of service and a "Sign up" button. Below the fields we explain why an account is needed at all: "so that your prayers always remain yours". For a user who doesn't understand why the app wants them to register, this hint answers the main question.

Protecting loved ones

The "Protection" section is the list of people the user prays for. Above the list is a large "Add people close to you" button, and below it a table: a person's name in each row and several topics in the columns. This way one screen shows who already has entries and on which topics.

In edit mode a microphone button appears next to each topic, and an empty "Add name" row appears in the list. The user doesn't have to type anything: the name is added to the table, and then it's enough to tap the microphone in the right topic. Changes are confirmed with the "Save" and "Cancel" buttons, and the active tab in the bottom menu is highlighted with a red shield.

Living Testimony

The second section is a shared feed where users tell how faith has influenced their lives. The texts are grouped into tabs — "Home", "Topic 1", "Topic 2" and so on — which you switch with arrows on the sides. Each entry is signed with the author's name and shown in a shortened form with a "Read more" button so the feed stays easy to scan. A "Share your testimony" button is pinned at the bottom.

Publishing opens in a separate card on top of the feed: the user writes the text, marks one or more topics it relates to and taps "Publish". The background is blurred so nothing distracts from the text.

The result

We designed an app that brings together the personal and the shared: your own list of loved ones with entries by topic, and a feed of testimonies you can read and add to with your own. The interface is built around a few large actions and is meant for people who value simplicity over the number of features.
