About the project
This is a mobile app for construction site workers: shift tracking, project tasks, photo reports, chat and the employee's personal documents. The interface is in English; judging by the details in the mockups — a Swedish phone code and the ID06 card used on construction sites in Sweden — the product targets the Scandinavian market.
The challenge
The app is used right on site — with gloves on, on the move, between tasks. So the interface has to be as simple as possible: large elements, minimal text, the main action visible immediately. We had to bring time tracking, tasks and documents together in one app so that a worker spends no more than a couple of seconds on their phone.
Work shift
The main screen answers the key question — is a shift running, and how much has been worked so far. The header shows the company, the worker's name and photo. Below are four large tiles: “Projects”, “Chat”, “Photo” and “Work shifts”. Center stage goes to the shift timer and a big round stop button, around which a progress scale fills in a semicircle. Below the button are the start time and date.
Project tasks
Inside a project there are three tabs: “Tasks”, “Workers” and “Photos”. A task card holds everything needed on site: the title (for example, installing electrical wiring on the second floor), the site address, a description of the work, progress in percent and hours, who assigned the task, the deadline with an overdue flag and a time estimate. A flag in the corner marks priority, and a large “Complete” button closes the task with a single tap.
Profile and documents
In the profile, the worker enters their name, phone number with country code, interface language and time format. Email and phone verification is provided separately — it's needed to access other companies, meaning one profile can be used with different employers. At the bottom is an “Additional Documents” block for certificates and personal documents.
An uploaded document opens in a full-screen viewer over the profile, with the file name and a download button. The mockup shows a scan of a construction ID card: it can be quickly shown at the checkpoint or to the foreman right from the phone.
Result
We designed an app where a shift is started and stopped with one button, site tasks are visible with progress and deadlines, and the necessary documents are always at hand. Large elements and a simple structure are built for use in the field.
