About the project

Magic Slots is a slot game in a fairy-tale setting: a wizard's castle, candles, stained glass and magical artifacts on the reels. Inside the game the slot itself is called Wizard's Castle. We worked on the visuals and interface: the loading screen, the game board, the symbol guide and the bet list.

The challenge

In a slot the player spends their time on a single screen, so it has to do two things at once. First, atmosphere: the picture should draw you in and not get boring after a hundred spins. Second, clarity: the balance, win, bet and spin button must be readable instantly, on any background and on a small screen. We had to combine a rich fantasy illustration with an interface that doesn't get lost against it.

First impression

The game opens with a loading screen showing the Wizard's Castle logo against a night castle among the cliffs. Three-dimensional letters shifting from pink to turquoise and the golden word castle set the tone for the whole game, and the loading bar uses the same colors. Waiting becomes an intro rather than an empty screen.

Game board

The main screen is the castle's throne room with a Gothic window and candles. In the center is a 6 × 3 board with symbols: a crown, rings, amulets, bracelets, potions. Each symbol is drawn on a wooden tile, so even bright artifacts don't blend into the background. Line numbers run along the sides of the board.

All game information is gathered in three golden plates at the top: Credit, Win and Total Bet. At the bottom are the bet controls with "−" and "+" buttons, an indicator and a large Max Bet button, with Spin on the right. The menu, sound and info buttons sit in the corners as round icons so they don't get in the way of the main action. All controls share one purple style with a stone texture and read as part of the castle rather than an interface laid on top.

Guide and bets

The Information screen takes the player into a crystal cave. On the left is a grid of all symbols, on the right the main one shown large — the epic "Wizard's Crown" symbol. You can flip through symbols with the arrows on the sides. At the bottom is a short description of the game: a magical theme, daily bonus card games and a simple rule — spin the reels and collect combinations.

Bet List is a table of players' bets with Player and Bet columns. The window opens over a blurred game board, so the player doesn't lose context, and the table is framed in the same golden border as the plates on the main screen. A long list scrolls with a golden slider on the right.

The result

The result is a cohesive visual set for the slot: the intro, game board, symbol guide and bet table share one style. Symbols, plates and buttons are drawn as objects from the wizard's world, while the numbers and actions that matter to the player stay large and visible on any background.
