Restaurant table booking app

About the project

A mobile app for finding restaurants and booking tables. The user sees nearby venues on a map, opens a restaurant page with photos, reviews and the menu, and books a specific table for the right time. We designed the app interface: the main screen, the venue page and the booking flow.

Challenge

A restaurant booking is usually a phone call during which the guest sees neither the dining room nor the free seats, and the host checks a list manually. We needed to create a service where guests choose a venue themselves, compare options by clear parameters and book a table while seeing exactly what is available.

Finding a venue

The main screen combines a map and a list: at the top is a map with the current location, at the bottom a sheet with search and filters. Below are a “Recommended” selection in a horizontal carousel and an “All restaurants” list. Each venue card immediately shows the parameters people usually choose by: category, distance to the restaurant, number of tables, average bill and guest rating.

Restaurant page

The page opens over the map and consists of the “Overview”, “Gallery”, “Reviews” and “Menu” tabs. The “Book a table” button is pinned to the header, so booking is one step away from any tab. The overview brings together a description of the cuisine, opening hours, average bill, number of tables, the address with floor and distance, separate phone numbers for different halls and social media links. At the bottom of the screen are the travel time and a call button.

The gallery shows the interior and food presentation in a photo grid: guests want to see the atmosphere of the room in advance, especially when choosing a place for a meeting or celebration.

Table booking

The booking screen is the core of the product. The guest picks a date and scrolls the time scale, and below sees the tables as schematic icons: hall, table number, number of seats and status — “Available” or “Occupied”. The icon shape shows the table type: round for four or rectangular with sofas. Tables can be sorted by availability or by number so that free options are at the top.

Result

We designed an app where guests find a restaurant nearby, compare venues by bill, number of tables and reviews, browse photos and the menu, and book a specific table for the chosen time while seeing which seats are free. For the restaurant, it's a way to take bookings without phone calls and manual list-keeping.
